Summary: Looking to fulfill your six ethics continuing education requirement this licensure cycle? Please join the Guild as we survey three timely ethical themes on March 27. Our speakers are subject matter experts on the use of AI in therapy, clinical care of gender diverse and trans clients, and building a LGBTQ+ affirming group practice for both clients and clinicians. 8:45 AM -10:45 AM "Ethical use of AI in Therapy" with Adam Lockwood, PhD* (he/him) Kent State University - unfortunately had to cancel last minute. Will be replaced with:

8:45 AM -10:45 AM "The Ethics of Working with LGBTQ+ Clients in Ethically Non-Monogamous Systems" with Jess Shade,  LCMHC
Increasingly therapists are encountering clients engaging in ethical non-monogamy (ENM) in their practices. Research suggests that ENM is more common amongst members of the LGBTQ+ population than in cisgender heterosexual unions (Cannas Aghedu et al., 2024). However, many clinicians have not received training in working with this population. This presentation seeks to address this gap by first defining basic vocabulary and cultural components of the ENM community. Following this, a survey of the six principles of ethical clinical work (autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, fidelity, and veracity) will set the stage for case conceptualizations to ensure the best ethical care for these clients. Attachment Theory and the Developmental Model of Relationships will provide the clinical modalities for these conceptualizations.

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM  "Ethical Clinical Care for Gender Diverse & Trans Communities" with Andres Larios Brown, LMFT (They/Elle), Simple Modern Therapy and Institute
Within the rapidly shifting and ever increasingly dangerous socio/cultural/political landscapes, therapists are charged with providing healing and hope for our Trans and gender diverse clients. This training supports clinicians in providing ethical, competent, and affirming care for communities under attack. Topics include: Self of the therapist, scope of practice, ethical decision-making, and moving beyond “affirming enough” care toward clinically excellent, trauma-attuned practice.

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM  "Building a Queer Conscious Group Practice" with Paige Zuckerman, CMHC, LCPC, (she/her), Fulcrum Behavioral Healthcare Consulting and Beehive Mental Health
A discussion of the realities and ethics of starting up and sustaining an LGBTQ+ and intersectional behavioral health practice. We will explore logistical considerations, forging the circle of safety, and mindful growth including cost equity, accommodation, and sustainability.
