Title: Psychiatry treatment focused on the LGBTQIA Communities

Speaker and Degree: Christopher Sorensen, MD, Medical Director at Numinus Psychiatry, Draper, Julie Russel, PsyD

Description: Members of the Numinus clinic including Julie Russell PsyD (she/her) and Christopher Sorensen MD (he/they) will present on some advanced treatment options for clients with difficult presentations. These options will include ketamine, Spravato, TMS and enrolling clients in studies of psychedelics and pharmaceuticals still under investigation by the FDA. Dr. Sorensen will discuss the use of hormone treatments to manage gender incongruence and how this can improve anxiety and depression treatment.

Learning Objectives: Based on this presentation I… 

1...will learn more about treatment resistant depression treatment options and when to utilize them.

2...will learn about the clinical research process, including the strengths and weaknesses of this approach.

3...will learn more about building rapport with LGBT patients and incorporating use of gender affirming care within the psychiatric model.

CEU’s have been approved by Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and Utah Psychological Association.
