Description: Evan (he/his) serves as the Associate Director of Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness (USARA), on the board of directors for the national advocacy organization Faces and Voices of Recovery and locally for the Utah Harm Reduction Coalition. He is a governor appointee to Utah's Behavior Health Commission where he serves as a representative of a person with lived experience of substance use disorder. Evan will discuss his experiences creating safe spaces for those struggling with SUDs (Substance Use Disorders) and his advocacy work in supporting those in the queer community on their recovery journeys.

1...have awareness of the disparities that exist within the LGBTQIA+ communities, as related to substance use disorders and the associated causes.
2...understand the history of SUD harm reduction and how many of those roots are in the LGBTQIA+ causes..
3...recognize the need for culturally responsive treatment for queer folks with a SUD.
CEU’s have been approved by Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and Utah Psychological Association.
CEUs are free for Guild members & $5 for non‐members, per meeting. If you do not want a CEU certificate, attendance is free to the public but still require that you register.
