Title: Recovery, A Gay Man’s Perspective

Presenter: John Clapp, ASUDC

Description: A discussion about substance abuse within the LGBTQ community. John is a Licensed Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counselor who has worked with adults and adolescents in residential settings since 1994.  Come ready to discuss what we are doing better, in addressing substance abuse in our community... and blind spots that leave LGBT underserved.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Participants will have a greater understanding of how substance abuse affects the LGBT populations and how that differs from dominant culture.
  • Participants will learn how substance abuse is underserved in the LGBT communities.
  • Participants will be able to discuss the history of substance use and abuse in the LGBT communities.

CEU’s have been applied for, for all in‐service programs by Utah NASW and for all programs including Plan‐B Theatre Events. CEU's have been applied for from the Utah Psychological Association for our in-service programs. CEU’s are free for Guild members & $5 for non‐members, per meeting. If you do not want a CEU certificate, attendance is free to the public but still require that you register.
