Increasing Clinical Competency: Ethical Approaches for Working Across the Spectrum of Gender

This two session workshop will provide an overview of ethical issues that emerge in working with the dynamic experiences of gender. Included will be an exploration of the vast spectrum of gender, the language that limits or expands our ability to work with this spectrum, clinical approaches to use when providing care and treatment for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals and their families, and the range of factors that individuals and families encounter within the context of their age and developmental stage of life.

The fee includes both sessions and the working lunch.  Presenters would like participants to attend all sessions.

The workshop will be supplemented with a lunch-time panel of individuals with lived experience and feedback for clinicians.

Presenters: Candice Metzler, MS;  Colleen Kuhn, PhD.; Ryan Randall, LCSW

Who should attend this workshop? Licensed mental health professionals, students in clinical training, and non-professional helping advocates in service agencies that work with transgender individuals and allies. Click for flyer.

This workshop will be conducted at the University of Utah School of Social Work – the registration fee for this workshop is not included as free for Guild members. However, Guild members are eligible for discounted registration.
