What is your approach to affirmative therapy?
My approach to affirmative therapy is to be open, honest, respectful, and to embrace a positive view of LGBTQ+ relationships and individuals. I strive to understand each individuals specific experiences and to challenge my own understanding and blindspots so I can grow alongside my clients and be as affirming and accepting as possible knowing that my own past may cloud my awareness at times. I also strive to address the negative impacts that discrimination and prejudice in the community and dominant cultures have had in the lives of my clients.
