Social/political discourses, literature, and even clinical considerations regarding trans and gender diverse communities are often White-washed into mono-narratives of the trans experience. Using theoretical and empirical research, this session will briefly examine the mono-cultural trans narrative, discuss the social-cultural-historical-political intersectionality of gender and racial identities, and consider implications for clinical practice with trans and gender diverse clients of color.
Presenter: Jayden Thai, M.Ed., Psychology Doctoral Intern, University Counseling Center, University of Utah
