Queer Theory and You: the Intersection of Gender, Race, and Class

What in the world is queer theory?  What surprising slants does it take on the notions of equality and diversity?  Why in recent years has it taken by storm gay and lesbian studies—and key  matters of (trans)gender, race and class?  Presented in a humorous, accessible style, this talk will stretch your thinking on what you think you know (and our culture thinks it knows) about important issues surrounding your genitals, clothing, childhood, and “shame.”

Presenter: Kathryn Bond Stockton, Associate Vice President for Equity and Diversity, University of Utah; Distinguished Professor of English.
