LGBTQ Guild: Open Discussion - Managing client reactions to the recent LDS Church policy decision

  • 11/19/2015
  • 8:00 AM - 9:45 AM
  • offices of MindBody Wisdom - 77 South 700 East - #200
Unfortunately the presentation originally scheduled for this date (Feminist Perspectives on Power in Relationships) had to be postponed due to illness.

Instead we will have a facilitated discussion (Jim Struve & Lee Beckstead will be the facilitators) about how we are managing client reactions to the recent LDS Church policy decision for managing LGBT individuals and families. This will provide us with a wonderful opportunity to engage in reflective discussion while actually being in the midst of a real-time hot button issue.

We are not intending for this to be a "bitch" session but rather time for a constructive dialogue about how we can respond to the complicated clinical issues that our clients are bringing to therapy, how we manage our own countertransference feelings about these matters, and what range of public responses are most appropriate for an organization like the Guild.

Meetings are conducted at the offices of MindBody Wisdom (77 South 700 East - #200) unless otherwise specified in the schedule – NOTE: please park in the upper (outside) parking lot. This location is accessible for anyone with limitations of physical mobility.
